Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson released her first proposed city budget Tuesday, laying out a difficult bargain: expand shelter, food access and other services while cutting spending and city positions to address a long-running budget gap.

The proposed 2027 budget totals $9.1 billion across all city funds. Within that, the General Fund—the portion the city has the most flexibility to spend—totals about $2 billion. Wilson’s office says the plan projects balanced budgets through 2030, though the City Council has yet to review or approve it.
