THE MORNING CUP - Saturday, November 7, 2026

Good morning, everyone. I'm Sean Bartley, and this is your Morning Cup. More like your afternoon cup because I slept in. I really needed it haha

Let's get to it!

Tuesday was a reminder of what happens when people organize, show up, and refuse to give up.

But here's what I want everyone to understand this morning: Winning elections is only the beginning.

THE FIGHT FOR ACCOUNTABILITY

Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries do not get to take credit for years of grassroots organizing and then expect everyone to fall in line behind them.

The people who knocked on doors, marched in the streets, organized their communities, and demanded change deserve leadership that actually listens to them.

We need a new generation of Democratic leadership willing to challenge corporate influence and fight for working people.

TRANS RIGHTS ARE HUMAN RIGHTS

We cannot celebrate progressive victories while ignoring attacks on transgender Americans.

Protecting trans people is not some optional part of the progressive movement. It's a fundamental part of fighting for human rights.

And I will continue holding Democrats accountable when they fail to defend those rights.

THE WORK DOESN'T STOP

The election is over, but our responsibility isn't.

We need congressional oversight. We need investigations where the evidence warrants them. We need lawmakers willing to challenge abuses of power.

And we need to start building a progressive vision for 2028 that gives people something meaningful to fight for.

We cannot spend the next two years simply reacting to Donald Trump.

We have to build something better.

MY FINAL THOUGHT

For years, people have been told that organizing doesn't work. That protesting doesn't matter. That ordinary people can't change the direction of this country.

Tuesday showed why we should never accept that argument.

But victories can disappear when movements become complacent.

So celebrate what we've accomplished. You've earned that.

Then get ready for the next fight.
